          Newsletter For

My Fuel Tax and My Fleet Manager
              2008 May Edition

So much to say!  So first our apologies for a rather long newsletter this month.

                                       www.MyFleettools.com

Thanks in part to customer feedback and assistance, much of our work over the last several months is finally showing results.  All of our current and future trucking related products can now be found at our new website:  www.myfleettools.com.  We definitely welcome your visits but please bear with us as we fine tune its appearance and content.  But the website is functional and features our three major truck-related products:  MyFuelTax version 4.0, MyFleetManager version 2.0. and MyGPSLogger version 1.0.  We'll touch on each product below but first a word to our existing customers of Spinnaker Fuel Tax version 3.0+.

Spinnaker Fuel Tax version 3.0+

While MyFuelTax version 4.0 will now be the only fuel tax product we will be selling, we want to ensure all existing customers that you may continue to use Spinnaker Fuel Tax version 3.0+ with confidence.  We will no longer be developing new features for 3.0 but we will absolutely continue to upgrade State forms as necessary and continue to give assistance as needed also.  However, we also invite and encourage any existing users of Spinnaker Fuel Tax version 3.0+ to upgrade to version 4.0 and in that spirit we are offering significant upgrade incentives.  As you know, except for our unlimited version, Spinnaker Fuel Tax version 3 is a onetime payment only.  On the other hand MyFuelTax version 4 is licensed on an annual subscription basis.  One benefit to you of this subscription format is that for the duration of your term you will always be able to count on personal customer service and assistance, including new passwords for new computers and crashes, at no charge whatsoever.

The upgrade incentive will work as follows:  any existing version 3 customers will be eligible to receive a subscription credit up to the amount you have already spent for your Spinnaker Fuel Tax version 3.  All credits will be calculated with a starting date of June 1, 2008.  Based on our new pricing structure described below this could easily mean a year or more of free usage of version 4 before your first subscription payment will come due.  But since all credits will have a starting date of June 1, 2008, the sooner you upgrade, the more free subscription time you will earn.  As an example, if you purchased Fuel Tax version 3 for 5 trucks you paid (with quantity discounts) $234.  5 trucks will now cost $200/year so if you upgrade by June 1 you will not have to pay your subscription until September, 2009.  If you have already paid for 8 trucks($342) your subcription would be paid up until September, 2010.

                                          MyFuelTax Version 4.0

Data import is really the major improvement that MyFuelTax version 4.0 boasts over our version 3.0 or for that matter most of our competitors.  In our last newsletter we described how MyFuelTax integrates with Microsoft Mappoint to help reduce data input.  We've kept the link below to download a trial copy of Mappoint and we have also kept the tips from last month to help in using Mappoint with MyFuelTax.

* For tips on how to use myFuelTax with Mappoint we have included some Help at the end of this  newsletter..

But beyond Mappoint there is so much more happening and more to come!  First, we are now moving forward to integrate and provide data import from other mapping programs.  MyFuelTax currently imports data from PCMiler as well as Mappoint.  So, if you have access to PCMiler you can now save any of your trips in text format and import those .txt files directly into myFuelTax.  Also, if you have any other mileage program that produces the necessary data for IFTA and also allows reports to be saved in text format we will be happy to integrate that software into MyFuelTax at no additional charge!  Just let us know.

Pricing for MyFuelTax version 4.0 is as follows:

1 truck = $50/year,  2-4 trucks = $100/year,  5-8 trucks = $200/year,  9-14 trucks = $300/year,   15-25 trucks = $400/year,  26+ trucks = unlimited = $500/year

A copy of the myFuelTax version 4.01 can be downloaded here:

 MyFleetManager Version 2.0

The exciting news about MYFleetManager version 2.0 is that it now also integrates with MyFuelTax.  So if you have MyFleetManager and Mappoint, you can now enter trips and expenses (including fuel) into MyFleetManager and MyFuelTax version 4 will enter your IFTA miles and fuel for you.

Pricing for MyFleetManager version 2.0 is as follows:

1 truck = $50/year,  2-5 trucks = $100/year,  6-15 trucks = $200/year,  16-25 trucks = $300/year,   26-50 trucks = $400/year,

                                          MyGPSLogger Version 1.0 Beta

4.  MyGPSLogger version 1.0 is also now available for Beta download and testing.   As we have announced before, this feature will let you log GPS coordinates, using a GPS receiver, right into a laptop in your truck.  The logger will create files that can then be run through Mappoint for Miles and Miles in State and entered automatically into the Trip entry dialog of myFuelTax.

Pricing for MyGPSLogger verson 1.0 is $50/year per truck for 1 to 4 trucks.  Above 4 trucks it is $3/month per truck.

 * Help for testing the myFuelTax Mappoint interface:

Once you have both myFuelTax and Mappoint on your computer and after you have created a userprofile and a unit profile you should start testing myFuelTax by going to the Trip Entry dialog.  On the Trip Entry dialog you will notice a new button labeled 'Use Mappoint'.  First, open an existing data file or create a new file, whichever you prefer.  Clicking this button will open Mappoint and you will see the map of North America.  We recommend that if you are not familiar with Mappoint, you should try to familiarize yourself with its mapping features.  You can zoom in to any area of the US or Canada and select an area to start 'driving'.  You do this by a right mouse click, selecting 'Route', then selecting 'Add as Start'.  Then in similar fashion select other points along a proposed route to 'Add as Stop' and finally a location to 'Add as End'.  Then click 'Get Directions' to draw the map of your trip.  If the map directions that Mappoint selects are not your actual route, you can click on the green route line until it changes to a blue color.  Once the route line is blue you can drag the route to mirror your actual trip.  A trip can be as long or as short as you want.  And trips can be strung together as well.  Once you have your Mappoint route the way you like it, just click the 'Enter Trip in Fuel Tax' button and watch your entire trip or trips get entered automatically onto the Trip Entry dialog!

Until next time,

Kind Regards,
